Funding details
Estonian spacetech startup Golbriak Space announced a €4 million seed round on 8 October 2026. The investment was co-led by Join Capital and PhotonVentures, with participation from Takeoff, an acceleration program of the CDP Venture Capital National Accelerator Network managed by Plug and Play.
The funding was made into Golbriak Space's Italian holding company, Iribits S.r.l. The funds will support the development and industrialisation of its Estonian operating subsidiary, Golbriak Space OÜ.
Laser communications technology
Golbriak Space designs, engineers and manufactures laser communication systems for space and airborne platforms. Its optical terminals aim to lower integration complexity and streamline the manufacturing, operation and deployment of high-bandwidth communications across satellite constellations and other missions.
The company designs all optical, electronic, mechanical and software elements of its systems in-house. Its technology reduces reliance on the pointing capabilities of host platforms, such as satellites or drones, allowing multiple terminals to operate on a single host. Golbriak Space is currently scaling production of two product families built on a shared software-defined architecture: ERMESAI+ for space applications and ARES for airborne platforms.
Use of capital and expansion plans
The newly raised capital will be used to scale production capacity, accelerate technology industrialisation and expand manufacturing operations. The round comes as the company enters commercial negotiations for programmes involving several thousand systems.
Golbriak Space already has paying customers and functioning products. Customer-funded deployments across several commercial space programmes are set to expand its operational footprint starting in 2027.
