Funding and investors
SupaHuman announced its NZ$2.6 million Series A round on 19 October 2026. Venture capital firm Movac led the investment, with additional participation from Ecliptic VC, K1W1, Snowball, and Serge van Dam. Following the round, David Beard from Movac is joining the company's board.
Automating vocational education
Founded by CEO Dave Howden, Blair Woods, and Zane Hemmingsen-Jensen, SupaHuman develops artificial intelligence software for vocational education and workplace training. Its platform automates aspects of training design, validation, delivery, and compliance checking.
The company offers two main products. VETos creates course-mapped assessments and learning resources while running checks ahead of regulatory audits. Nova 5 converts these materials into learning activities for training providers and corporate learning and development teams. SupaHuman also operates AI Studio, a unit focused on applied AI across different sectors.
Customers and expansion plans
SupaHuman operates offices in Auckland and Melbourne. Its software serves registered training organisations, TAFEs, private training establishments, industry training organisations, and skills bodies regulated by the Australian Skills Quality Authority and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
In New Zealand, organisations including Connexis, Competenz, ServiceIQ, and Mast Academy helped inform the product's development. Following a soft launch in Melbourne in March, the business secured Australian clients such as the Canberra Institute of Technology and Hader Institute. It has also entered a 12-month partnership with the Future Skills Organisation's Skills Accelerator.
The startup will use the new capital to expand its operations in Australia and bolster its business in New Zealand. Its international growth is supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, alongside previous backing from GridAKL through its Propel scholarship.
